One of my favorite things to do is travel, but not just to see the pretty sites. My family has a more "cultural" outlook. We travel to experience how people in the place we are touring live their daily lives. In preparation for my senior trip to France, I took 4 years of French language classes, studied the architecture of French buildings through art classes, and learned how to make certain French dishes. I studied fashion and French trends and presented this information to friends and family. I studied the weather trends of each season, learned what different French signs meant, and looked into plenty of blogs (written in French or English) about the norms of France and how they differ from America. I listened to French music, watched French Shows, and read French books so that I could more fully understand how to Tour France.

As someone with a deep love and appreciation for history, architecture, and art, my short few days in Italy only sparked my interest more. I was able to join family as we explored Trevi Fountain, the Colusseum, Pompeii, and beautiful winery near Mt. Vesuvius, and many other beautiful pieces of culture. Along with my trip to France, my trip to Italy was filled with culture. One of my favorite things about international travel is being in a place where I don't speak the language. Languages, cultures, and new experiences in general are fascinating! I enjoyed watching the locals sell vegetables, and little touristy trinkets. I loved taking pictures of the scenes that seemed "paintable". After my experience, I wrote an essay about a particular experience in Italy that changed my life. I will link that below:
